At 21.11.2008 I had the chance to present the SharePoint Application Lifecycle Management on the Microsoft TechSummit conference in Berlin (title of the presentation was “SharePoint Software Factory: MOSS-Development automatisieren”). It was a great audience for this topic and I had very interesting discussions. Mid of december you can download a video of the presentation here.

At 02.12.2008 I will conduct a workshop on TeamConf 2008 in Zürich. The topic is “SharePoint as a development plattform” (”SharePoint als Entwicklungsplattform: Erweiterung von SharePoint auf Basis eines bewährten Entwicklungsprozesses”). I will show how SharePoint can be extended by custom development and how this can be done with a defined development process, of course based on SPALM.

Currently it is planned that I can present our concepts for SharePoint Application Lifecycle Management at the BASTA!2008 conference in Mainz with the following topic (in German):

“Dreamteam SharePoint und Team System: MOSS-Entwicklung mit einer Software Factory

SharePoint 2007 bietet unzählige Möglichkeiten der Anpassung und Erweiterung: .NET Code, ASP.NET-Controls, WebParts, Site templates, Content Types usw. Torsten Mandelkow zeigt, wie Steria Mummert Consulting die SharePoint-Entwicklung weitestgehend automatisiert und welche Rolle dabei Application Lifecycle Management mit Visual Studio Team System und eine SharePoint Software Factory spielen.”

My session is planned for Monday September 22nd within the ALM Day at BASTA!2008 in Mainz.

My co-worker Thomas Janssen will also have a session at the conference. Find more about it in his blog.

At the conference Microsoft TeamConf 2008 in Munich I presented with a co-worker a software factory for SharePoint. I have developed the software factory with the Guidance Automation Toolkit (by Microsoft). At the conference we presented the software factory and how we can create a SharePoint feature with a wizard in Visual Studio. In the second part we showed the automatic deployment of the feature with TFS 2008 into a SharePoint environment.

Currently I’m planning to write my master thesis (MBA study) about performance management in the public sector. As I worked in the past in several projects for public services (like S-Bahn München, local governments, Deutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft, etc.) this topic seems to fit in my past experience in this sector. I want to write about performance management with the new product PerformancePoint Server 2007 and how this product can be used in the public sector to measure performance.

MOSS and TFS in LoveHere you see our poster “MOSS and TFS in Love” that I have created for my presentation at the SharePoint Conference 2008 in Frankfurt. I presented the topic “Dreamteam MOSS and TFS - SharePoint development becomes controllable with Application Lifecycle Management” (German “Dreamteam MOSS und TFS - SharePoint-Entwicklung wird durch aktive ALM beherrschbar”), together with my co-worker Thomas Janssen. The story behind is that you can better control the SharePoint development process with Team Foundation Server 2008.

Application Lifecycle Management for SharePoint is an very interesting topic for our customers. Also the response to the presentation at the conference approved that a lot of customers are interested in this topic.

More information about the presentation can be found on Microsoft page of the conference: http://www.microsoft.com/germany/aktionen/ready-for-take-off/agenda/sharepoint.aspx
